I found this video clip of Red Skelton in 1969 on network TV after seeing this story posted on the Drudge Report about a school in Massachusetts sending permission slips home regarding student participation in reciting ‘The Pledge’. The clip now seems to be prophetic and also a sad reminder of how far we have declined as a nation when schools now either ask for a parent’s permission for or allow students to opt out all together from participation in a basic patriotic act.
